Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on the amount of funding available for each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must attend the former Lincoln Community High School in Iowa (North Cedar High School).
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.
  5. Must be the child of an attendee of the former Lincoln Community High School in Iowa.

Additional Information: Established in 2002 by Paul and Sara Corbin, to provide financial assistance for postsecondary education for children of attendees of the former Lincoln Community High School. Scholarship recipients must thank the donors who have made their scholarship(s) possible. Scholarship funds will not be disbursed until recipient thank-you letter(s) are received.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable. The award amount may vary according to the funding available for each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online from the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation (GCRCF) website. Please note: Students may apply for as many GCRCF scholarships as they are qualified for, but must submit a separate application for each. As part of the completed application, the student must provide a statement of goals that is 250 words or less. The statement must include: the student's educational, career, and employment goals; future plans and how these plans will help him/her to achieve his/her goals; information about any circumstances of a personal, cultural, or financial nature that he/she has had to face; and an explanation of how the information in the statement explains how he/she fits the specific criteria for the scholarship. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit his/her latest academic transcript, an academic letter of reference, and a non-academic letter of reference. An original plus five copies of all application materials (with the exception of the Statement of EFC) must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to be considered. The materials must be postmarked or hand-delivered to the mailing address provided by the deadline date. Applications received after the deadline date will not be considered.
