Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually, one per semester (fall and spring).
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be attending school in the continental United States.
  3. Must be a high school senior OR an undergraduate student concurrently enrolled at an accredited public or private college/university for the semester in which he/she applies for the scholarship.
  4. Must be 17 years of age or older.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. and international high school seniors and undergraduate students who submit an essay on a topic related to life insurance. Students must be 17 years of age or older.

Application requirements for the JRC Insurance Group Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Unofficial Transcript (undergrad only)
Additional Information: All majors/areas of study are eligible to apply. Essays will be reviewed by a selection committee made up of members of the JRC Insurance Group executive team. The winning essay will be selected based on originality and quality of writing. Winners will be notified via email and announced on the JRC Insurance Group Facebook page by Nov. 1 (fall) and March 1 (spring). Applicants agree that essays submitted to JRC Insurance Group may be displayed in its marketing materials, including, but not limited to, its social media outlets and website. Immediate family members (children or siblings) of JRC owners/employees are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Scholarship funds are to be used for college related expense(s).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Scholarship information is available online on the JRC Insurance Group website. There is no application form required for this award. To apply, the student must submit an essay of 500 to 1,000 words explaining why the family breadwinner's income should be protected by life insurance, and the characteristics displayed by those who put their family first. The essay must be emailed to the address provided. The subject line of the email must read "JRC Scholarship Essay". The student should include his/her name, email address, and phone number. Undergraduate students should also include a copy of their unofficial transcript in .pdf for verification. High school seniors should also include the school they currently attend and their plans for next year. There are two submission deadlines annually: Oct. 15 and Feb. 1. Students may apply once per semester.
