Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 10 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must have a grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.75.
  4. Must currently attend or have previously attended high school in East Palo Alto.
  5. Must be a graduating high school senior.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The K.C. Kinch Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors who have resided in or attended school in East Palo Alto. Applicants must have a grade point average of between 3.0 and 3.75.

Application requirements for the K.C. Kinch Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Official Transcript
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: The K.C. Kinch Scholarship was established in 2017 through the will of Kathleen Carol Kinch. Ms. Kinch's hope was that these funds would be used to provide financial assistance to students in East Palo Alto who demonstrate a combination of strong academic potential and unmet financial need.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 annually. This award is renewable for an additional three years of funding.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,000.

Applications are available on the Silicon Valley Community Foundation website. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must also submit the following: two letters of recommendation (the letters must be from the people listed on the application); an official transcript of grades; a personal statement addressing the topics listed on the application; evidence of financial need as described on the application; and proof of U.S. citizenship (photocopy of birth certificate, passport or naturalization papers). The complete application packet must be completed online by the deadline date.
