Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually, but can range from 5 to 30, depending on the program and funding received.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a graduating senior from Aliso Niguel High School in Aliso Viejo, California OR an active participant of a U.S. Diving Southern Pacific Association Diving Team. The applicant should include this information in the application form.
  3. Must be active in athletics.
  4. Must be a resident of Orange County, California.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  6. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  7. Must plan to enroll full time in a program at an accredited college, university or trade school.

Additional Information: Applications will be reviewed by the foundation staff with advisers from the community. Finalists may be invited to an interview for further screening.

Award Amount: $1,500 to $2,000 annually, depending on the level of financial need, cost of tuition, available funding and any other special circumstances. Award amount will be determined at the discretion of the scholarship review committee. Awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,750.

Applications are available from the Orange County Community Foundation website and must be completed online. Each applicant must create an account using his/her username, chosen password, name and email address. In addition to a completed application, the applicant must submit his/her expected family contribution (found on the SAR received after submitting the FAFSA); the name and email address of his/her counselor or school staff member who is authorized to verify his/her grade point average; information regarding his/her or his/her parents' recent income tax return; a general essay (no more than 600 words) on the topic listed within the application; an athletics essay responding to the questions listed within the application; and the name and email address of two recommenders. Students must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on the deadline date.
