Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding and the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Michigan.
  4. Must be a graduating high school senior to apply for this freshman year award.
  5. Must plan to attend Lake Superior State University in Michigan.
  6. Must demonstrate an eligible ACT score to earn the points required in combination with the appropriate grade point average. The weight is 50 percent.
  7. Must demonstrate an eligible grade point average to earn the points required in combination with the appropriate ACT score. The weight is 50 percent.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. graduating high school seniors who are residents of Michigan planning to attend Lake Superior State University are eligible for this award. Applicants must meet a minimum of 185 points based on the combination of grade point average and ACT composite score.

Application requirements for the LSSU Board of Trustees Distinguished Scholarship are:

  • Test scores
  • App. fee
Additional Information: Scholarships are awarded based on a point scale that is approved annually by the Financial Aid Committee. 50 percent weight is given to the overall high school grade point average, and 50 percent is based on the highest ACT composite score received by the application deadline date. The applicant's minimum score is 185.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 offered.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
