  2. Must be a resident of Washington State.
  3. Must plan to attend a college or university in Washington.

Description: The Marjorie M. and William H. Griffin Scholarship is available for graduating high school seniors and non-traditional students in Washington State. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the State of Washington.

Additional Information: The Marjorie M. and William H. Griffin Scholarship was established in 2017 to assist students in the State of Washington who may not otherwise be able to afford higher education. Scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors as well as non-traditional students who are returning to school after time in the workforce or raising a family. Scholarship selection will be based on academic merit, unmet financial need, and the student's demonstrated willingness to work to support themselves and achieve their goals. Additional preference may be given to students who are enrolling in a music program.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

The Marjorie M. and William H. Griffin Scholarship is ended for 2019 but the award is expected to be offered again in 2020. Please check back in January of 2020 when applications will become available. Applications for the Marjorie M. and William H. Griffin Scholarship must be completed online at the Community Foundation of North Central Washington website. To apply, students must first create an online account with the community foundation's application portal and complete the eligibility quiz. Students will then be able to access the individual applications for any scholarships they are eligible through the foundation. Applicants are encouraged to gather the following materials prior to beginning the application: their expected family contribution (EFC) from their Student Aid Report (SAR); transcripts from their current educational institution; email addresses for two individuals who will provide a recommendation for the applicant; and a list of activities, awards, and honors the student has received. The Student Aid Report is obtained by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the student's current-year FAFSA must be completed at the time of application. Students may apply to multiple scholarships they are eligible through the foundation application portal by clicking on "copy answers." Students are also advised to pay close attention to any specific short answers, essays, or other supplemental materials required for each specific scholarship's application. All submissions must be completed online by the deadline date. Any late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
