  2. Must be Roman Catholic.
  3. Must reside in the city of Worcester, MA.

Description: The Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship is available for Catholic high school seniors in Worcester, Massachusetts. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need.

Application requirements for the Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
Additional Information: The Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship is provided annually through the Greater Worcester Community Foundation (GWCF). Awards are available for Roman Catholic students who are currently enrolled as seniors at a high school in Worcester, Massachusetts. The GWCF has provided opportunity and financial assistance for more than 40 years in the central Massachusetts area, and continues this mission today with a variety of programs including scholarships for local area students. All applications completed prior to the deadline date will be given full consideration based on academic history, unmet financial need, and the strength of received recommendation letters. For the Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship, additional emphasis will be given to applicants demonstrating significant financial need.

Award Amount: Last year, scholarships were awarded in the amount of $800. All scholarships are one-time awards and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $800.

The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in January for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications and additional information about the Mary and John Buckley Memorial Scholarship are available at the Greater Worcester Community Foundation website. To apply for this scholarship, students must complete the online scholarship application form. All applications will also require the student to upload a copy of current transcripts for all academic coursework completed at their current school, as well as a letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or other adult community leader who is familiar with the applicant. All applications and supporting documents must be received online no later than the deadline date.
