In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen. Students with permanent residence status are not eligible.
  3. Must be ranked in upper quarter of graduating class at the end of the first semester of senior year.
  4. Must have an SAT score of 950 or higher OR have an ACT score of 19 or higher.
  5. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a college or university in the state of Texas.
  6. Must be a student in a district within the following counties in Texas: Harris, Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Liberty, Montgomery or Waller.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors who are enrolled in high school in Texas and plan to attend a Texas college. Students must have an SAT score of 950 or higher or an ACT score of 19 or higher, and must rank in the upper quarter of their graduating class.

Additional Information: Applicants must have successfully passed the TAKS Mastery/Exit Level exam at the time of application. Leadership potential and character of the applicant should be demonstrated through an applicant's responses to the categories of the application detailing school, extracurricular and community activities and achievements.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, renewable for three years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo website. In addition to a completed online application, the applicant must also mail or hand deliver the following documents (in one packet, together): his/her individual scholastic record, application checklist and certification, FAFSA, official transcripts, and official proof of SAT/ACT scores. The student must write his/her reference number on each of the documents submitted. A reference number will be given upon submission of the online application. Online application must be submitted by midnight on the deadline.
