Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of Michigan.
  3. Must enroll at Michigan State University.
  4. Must be a member of a 4-H club.
  5. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for high school seniors who are members of 4-H and residents of Michigan. The applicant must be planning to attend any Michigan State University full time.

  • 4-H membership
  • Official Transcript
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: Financial need is not a consideration for this award. Award winners are selected on the basis of current or former 4-H involvement; outstanding achievement in 4-H; scholastic excellence; broad 4-H experiences and project involvement; 4-H involvement at county, regional, state and national levels; leadership and citizenship contributions within and outside of 4-H; years of 4-H involvement; thoroughness in completing application requirements; and neatness of the application.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, renewable for four consecutive years of full-time study.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online from the Michigan State University (MSU) website. The applicant must first apply to MSU for admission by Nov. 1 during his/her high school senior year for enrollment the following fall. The Michigan State University 4-H Scholarship application must be completed by the applicant and sent to his/her county MSU Extension 4-H staff who will then complete the staff section. It is recommended that the applicant submit his/her application to his/her 4-H staff person by mid October to ensure that the corresponding portion is completed prior to the deadline.
