Additional Information: This program is administered by the National Headquarters of the Military Order of the Purple Heart with funding provided by the Service Foundation of the Order. This means that any applicant who was awarded a scholarship the previous year or who has already received two MOPH scholarships is not eligible to apply. All MOPH National Scholarship applications are reviewed on a competitive basis by the MOPH National Scholarship Committee. The selection committee will consider the applicant's academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service, strength of letters of recommendation, and content of the essay. The decisions of the committee are final and without appeal. If the applicant is selected, he/she will be notified by the MOPH Adjutant General's office in May. At that time, the applicant will be asked to submit school information, a picture, and personal biographical information. Once the information is received by MOPH, the applicant will receive a check payable to him/her and the institution that he/she will be attending.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, non-renewable. Recipients can reapply annually for another scholarship, but they are limited to receiving two additional awards. A college or university student who reapplies must be carrying 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of study.
