Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a dependent child (this includes an adopted child and stepchild) of a full-time employee of a firm that is a member of the New Hampshire Grocers Association (the parent employee must have been employed for one year or more as of Jan. 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded), OR the applicant must be a part-time employee of a firm that is a member of the New Hampshire Grocers Association (the part-time employee must have been employed for six months or more as of Jan. 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded).
  3. Must plan to enroll full time at an accredited college or university.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  5. Must be a high school senior, college freshman, sophomore or junior to apply for this undergraduate award.

Description: This award is available for U.S. undergraduate students who are a dependent child (this includes an adopted child and stepchild) of a full-time employee of a firm that is a member of the New Hampshire Grocers Association (the parent employee must have been employed for one year or more as of Jan. 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded), OR the applicant must be a part-time employee of a firm that is a member of the New Hampshire Grocers Association (the part-time employee must have been employed for six months or more as of Jan. 1 of the year in which the scholarships are awarded). The member firm which employment takes place at must be located in New Hampshire (although the student may live in another state).

Additional Information: To assure complete impartiality in the selection of the winner and to maintain a high level of professionalism, the scholarships are determined by a firm that specializes in managing sponsored scholarship programs. The selection of the winners will be based on a combination of the academic merit, in addition to college Grade Point Average, ACT scores, SAT scores, and extracurricular activities. Parent/employees and part-time employees must still be employed by an NHGA member firm when the scholarship winners are announced. Winners will be notified by June 30 of the current award year.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. Checks will be mailed to each recipient’s home address and will be made payable to the college or university only. For students on the semester system, checks will be issued in August and December. For students on the quarter system, checks will be issued in August, November, and February.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the New Hampshire Grocers Association (NHGA) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit transcripts (high school and college, if applicable). Applications and transcripts must be received by the deadline date.
