Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered annually varies based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be an original enrollee, descendant of an original enrollee, or the adopted child of an original enrollee of Ninilchik Native Association, Inc. (NNAI).
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  5. Must enroll full time.
  6. Must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited or otherwise approved four-year undergraduate, graduate, or technical certificate or degree program.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: Undergraduate or graduate students who are original enrollees, descendants of original enrollees, or the adopted children of original enrollees of Ninilchik Native Association, Inc. (NNAI) are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Additional Information: An Alaska Native applicant for a Ninilchik Native Association, Inc. scholarship/grant who is also an original enrollee or lineal descendant of an original enrollee of Cook Inlet Region, Inc. is also eligible to apply for scholarships, grants and internships that are offered and funded by The CIRI Foundation. Award selections are made by the foundation's Education Awards Committee. The decision of the committee is final. Written notice of selection results will be mailed to applicants. Results are not usually given by the telephone or in person.

Award Amount: Up to $1,500 per semester, non-renewable. The award amount is subject to available funds. The check is made payable to the student and the university/school and must be endorsed by the student and the university/school to be valid. Scholarship funds are for tuition, university fees, books, required class supplies, as well as campus housing and meal plans for students who must live away from their permanent home to attend college. Although the recipient may reapply each semester, he/she may instead re-apply yearly.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $3,000.

Online applications and guidelines for the Ninilchik Native Association, Inc. Scholarship and Grant Fund are available online from the CIRI Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit proof of eligibility (first-time applicants only); one letter of reference from current or former teachers, employers or others who know of his/her past experience and potential to succeed in his/her chosen career; a copy of his/her official transcripts or certificate of completion; a statement of purpose (as described on page two of the application); a letter of acceptance; proof of enrollment; and a photograph of himself/herself (optional). As proof of eligibility, the student must include an official written statement or enrollment card from his/her village corporation. There are two deadline dates per year: June 1 and Dec. 1.
