Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a current 12th grade student.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must reside in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry, or Will counties in Illinois.
  5. Must be of Norwegian ancestry.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for high school seniors who are of Norwegian ancestry and reside in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, Kendall, McHenry, or Will counties in Illinois. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage the study of Norwegian heritage. Winners are announced in May at the Norwegian Constitution Day Parade. The parade is held at Hodges Park in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

The application deadline date has not yet been finalized for this year, but is expected to remain the same as last year. The deadline date shown here is tentative based on last year's date. Please check back in December for a refreshed application deadline date. Applications are available online on the Norwegian National League of Chicago website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: an official high school transcript; a letter of acceptance to a college or university; and an essay of 500 words or more on any topic regarding Norway. Applications must be postmarked by the deadline date. Please note: Applications should not be sent via certified mail.
