Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. *Please note: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be an enrolled member of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must be a high school senior or have received a high school diploma, HSED or GED at time of application.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled members of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin. Students must be high school seniors or older at time of application.

Additional Information: The Higher Education program of the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin promotes higher education to all enrolled Tribal members with continuing efforts toward lifelong learning by providing guidance, support, and financial assistance to those attending accredited institutions of higher learning. Full-time students, regardless of income, are eligible for tuition, books, required fees, and room and board allowance as determined by the individual's college/university standard budget. For students enrolled part time or attending certificate/apprenticeship programs etc. funding eligibility varies. Each student should review the website to determine the amount of financial aid he/she is eligible to receive. Each student is responsible for submitting a copy of his/her official grade report at the end of each semester/term; and upon graduation or completion of program, he/she must submit a copy of his/her certificate, license, diploma or degree.

Award Amount: The monetary award amount varies on an individual basis and is determined by the student's financial aid. Students will receive funding for a set number of terms, already determined by the foundation to attain their educational goals. The applicant should review the website to determine the number of terms he/she is able to renew his/her scholarship. In the past, the Oneida Tribe of Indians of Wisconsin Higher Education Foundation has been able to award up to $20,000 per academic year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.

Applications are available on the Oneida Nation higher education website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a copy of his/her letter of acceptance to an accredited college, university, or vocational college; 'Part 1' of the scholarship application; 'Participant Acknowledgment and Agreement' form; an 'Oneida Academic Plan' form, signed by both the student and the student's advisor and/or counselor; and a 'Financial Review' form, completed by the applicant's financial aid office after he/she has completed all of the financial aid requirements. To complete the 'Financial Review' form, the applicant must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid Form (FAFSA). Students must file the FAFSA by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. A completed application and supporting materials must be submitted to the address provided, prior to one of the following priority deadlines to be determined by the applicant: April 15 (fall term), Oct. 1 (spring term), and May 1 (summer term).
