In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must be a full-time student.
  3. Must be a Nordic student (Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, Danish) planning to live on campus.
  4. Must plan to attend Pacific Lutheran University in Washington.
  5. Must be a high school senior (or its equivalent) at time of application.

Additional Information: International students from Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Iceland) are eligible.

Award Amount: $30,000 per year (renewable) plus 32 credits (Sophomore standing).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $60,000.

Additional information is available online from the Pacific Lutheran University website. There is no separate application for this award. Each international student admitted to Pacific Lutheran University is considered for a grant. There are five application deadline dates per year: three dates in the fall and two in the spring; however, the priority deadline date for fall is May 1st and the priority deadline date for spring is December 1st. Applications are reviewed beginning on the 15th of each month, October through February. Applications for admission are available online from the Pacific Lutheran University website as a PDF document and online version. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must submit: a $40US application fee (waived if the online version of the application is completed); official transcripts with English translations from each secondary school, English as a second language program, and college or university attended; proof of English proficiency (measured by either a TOEFL score of 550 or higher on the paper exam or a 213 or higher on the computerized exam, OR one of the other methods listed on the international undergraduate application); one academic reference from a school official or from someone in a position to evaluate the applicant's ability to succeed in a baccalaureate program; a completed 'International Student Declaration of Finances' form; and a personal essay on one of the two questions listed in the 'Attachments' section of the application for admission.
