Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. and international students.
  2. Must be a high school senior or undergraduate student at the time of application.
  3. Must be a resident of or attend a college/university in the Greater Dayton area.
  4. Must identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or as a straight ally dedicated to LGBT causes.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for residents of the Miami Valley region of Ohio who self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or as a straight ally. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to and advocacy for LGBT causes, and must enroll in an accredited institution of higher education during the semester following application.

Application requirements for the PFLAG Dayton Chapter Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The PFLAG scholarship program, including the Greater Dayton LGBT scholarship, is designed to recognize outstanding students [one lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) and one straight ally] and to contribute toward their continuing education. PFLAG and the Dayton LGBT Center recognize specific academic and financial opportunities for lesbian and gay youth are limited, while the need for positive role models is acute. This program is designed to celebrate the achievement of individuals who represent PFLAG and the LGBT Center values.

Award Amount: Three awards for up to $2,000 and one award at $1,000. All scholarships are provided on an annual basis, and are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $7,000.

Applications are available at the Dayton Chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) website. In addition to a completed application form and essay responses, students must submit three letters of reference from individuals who are familiar with the applicant's community service efforts. All application materials and supporting documents must be mailed to the address provided above, and must be received by the deadline date.
