Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to 37 total awards offered annually as follows: A.O. Smith, up to two awards; Bradford White Corporation, up to three awards; Delta Faucet Company, up to six awards; RIDGID Tool Company, up to four awards; State Water Heaters, one award; PHCC Past National Officers, one award; PHCC Educational Foundation and S. Jersey Mech. Contractors Association, up to sixteen awards plus one Charles F. Hiley, Jr. Memorial scholarship.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a citizen of the United States or Canada.
  3. Must enroll full time (defined as at least 12 semester hours of credit, or the minimum number of credits required by the applicant's institution to qualify for full-time student status, whichever is greater.
  4. Must be enrolled in a plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) related major. A list of eligible majors is available on the PHCC website.
  5. Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in one of the following: a plumbing or HVACR apprentice program; an accredited two-year community college, technical college, or trade school; or an accredited four-year college or university.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: High school seniors or current undergraduate students who are citizens of the United States or Canada and are planning to enroll full time in a plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) certificate or degree program are eligible for this award. Students applying for the need-based scholarship must demonstrate financial need; all students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Additional Information: The purpose of these scholarship programs is to help students prepare for careers in the plumbing-heating-cooling (p-h-c) profession. Applicants cannot previously have won a scholarship from the PHCC Educational Foundation. (Some exceptions may apply; the student should contact the Foundation for details.)

Award Amount: The RIDGID Tool Company scholarships are each worth up to $1,000. The RIDGID Tool Company also awards $1,500 for tools. The A.O. Smith, Bradford White Corporation, Delta Faucet Company, State Water Heaters, and PHCC Past National Officers scholarships are all $2,500. PHCC Educational Foundation and S. Jersey Mech. Contractors Association awards up to ten scholarships of $1,000 each and six scholarships of $2,500 each. The Charles F. Hiley, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is worth $5,000. All awards are non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,847.

Applications are available online from the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Educational Foundation website. All scholarships may be applied for using the same application.In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit the following materials: a complete copy of his/her high school transcript or apprentice program/college transcript, including his/her cumulative grade point average; a letter of recommendation from his/her high school principal or counselor, or college dean, academic advisor, teacher, or apprentice program instructor on school letterhead; SAT and/or ACT scores with printed documentation for verification; and a signed letter of recommendation from a PHCC–National Association Active Member or AEC member on their company letterhead (optional but strongly recommended).To be considered for the PHCC Past National Officers awards, the student must also provided detailed answers to the questions regarding financial need.Please note: If the student cannot secure a required supporting material for submission, he/she must include a letter of explanation with his/her scholarship application. Incomplete submissions are subject to immediate disqualification. .Applications may be emailed, faxed, or mailed using the contact information provided. Students who fax their applications must also mail a physical copy. Applications must be received by the deadline date.
