  3. Must attend a state university, community college or any division of higher learning supported by the state of Florida.
  4. This award is for U.S. students.
  5. Must attend a Florida high school.
  6. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.

Description: This award is available for Florida high school seniors who are planning to attend a state university, community college or any division of higher learning supported by the state of Florida. Students must be willing to write a 1,000-word essay on 'Why Education is Important.'

Additional Information: The purpose of this scholarship program is to continue the proud Masonic tradition of supporting America's youth, and to reinforce a belief in the public school system of the United States. The Grand Lodge of Florida is offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors in hopes that they will enrich themselves and the country by furthering their educations. The scholarship check will be made payable to the institution designated by the recipient and placed into an account for the recipient's use. If not activated within one semester/quarter of receiving the scholarship (excluding summer sessions), the scholarship will be withdrawn and added to the following year's scholarships to be awarded. An intended college or university must be selected at time of application, or the application will be invalid.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Grand Lodge of Florida website. In addition to the completed application, the applicant must write an essay between 1,000 and 1,250 words in length on 'Why Education is Important.' The essay must be in 12 point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and include a cover letter. Specific formatting instructions are included within the application. The application and essay must be mailed to the address provided or emailed as a Word or PDF attachment with the subject line "Grand Lodge Scholarship Application". The application must be emailed by the deadline date.
