Additional Information: This scholarship fund was established in honor of R. K. Richey and seeks to assist with the educational expenses of students from Erie, Kansas. Applicants must be graduating from Erie High School with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must demonstrate financial need. Scholastic merit, financial need, and other submitted responses to the questions on the application form will all be considered with equal weight during selection for this scholarship. Awards are provided through the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, a local charity founded in 1978 with the goal of improving the Kansas City metropolitan area. Award Amount: The award amount varies annually, depending on the amount of available funding and the recipient's demonstrated financial aid. Scholarship funds will be disbursed in two equal installments: one in August and one in December. Previous recipients may apply for renewal by June 30 for up to three subsequent years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $4,000.

Applications and additional information about this scholarship can be found online at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation website using the provided links. To be considered for the R. K. Richey Scholarship, applicants must submit the following: a completed application form; one letter of recommendation from a current Erie High School teacher; proof of unmet financial need; a short personal statement about the applicant's educational experience and goals; and an optional personal statement discussing any special circumstances or information the applicant wishes to include. All applications and supporting documents must be submitted to the Erie High School counselor no later than the deadline date.
