Number of Awards & Eligibility: Five awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of Arkansas.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.
  5. Must have a documented learning disability.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. students who are residents of Arkansas. Students must have a documented learning disability.

Application requirements for the Ralph G. Norman Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • Documentation of disability
Additional Information: Students must be ineligible for SSI or SSD funding

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the Learning Disability Association of Arkansas (LDAA) website. In addition to a completed application, the student must submit the following: a two-paragraph statement of his/her future educational or career goals (less than 500 words); an official transcript of all high school and/or college courses; two letters of recommendation from two adults (non-relatives) that can testify to his/her academic abilities, personal character, volunteer services, and community involvement; and documentation of his/her disability. Disability documentation must include two of the following: a copy of a professional evaluation; a copy of the student's school IEP; a letter from a qualified professional certifying the learning disability (special educator, psychologist, or psychological examiner). The application packet must be mailed or submitted online using the contact information provided by the deadline date.
