Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior.
  4. Must be planning to major in a visual art in college.
  5. Must reside in Glenview, Illinois, attending any high school, or be a student in District 225.

Description: This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who reside in Glenview, Illinois, or attend a high school in District 225. Students must be planning to major in a visual art in college, and must submit samples of their artwork.

Application requirements for the Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship are:

  • Application form
  • Recommendation letters (2)
  • 10+ images of artwork
  • Interview (if requested)
Additional Information: The Robert Sherman Fine Art Scholarship was established to foster the study of art and advance the development of artists in keeping with the mission of the Glenview Art League. Applicants may be asked to interview with the Scholarship Committee. Students will be judged without bias or prejudice based on their application, the quality of their work, and letters of recommendation. Family members and relatives of the Glenview Art League's Board of Directors are not eligible.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable. The scholarship will be given directly to the student to use at his/her discretion toward the cost of college.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online on the Glenview Art League website. In addition to a completed application, each student must submit the following materials: a letter of recommendation from an art teacher; a letter of recommendation from a teacher or other adult who knows him/her well; and a CD or flash drive with 10 or more images of his/her artwork. Applications must be mailed to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date. Please note: Applicants will be asked to provide proof of college acceptance as a visual arts major by Apr. 15.
