Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate student at time of application. The student must attend or have attended high school in a rural community.
  4. Must demonstrate an interest in cyber security. The student must also be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology-related field, or already be doing so as part of an undergraduate degree program.
  5. Must reside in Charleston, SC or plan to attend a college or university in Charleston, SC.

Application requirements for the Rural Technology Cyber Security Scholarship are:

Additional Information: This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for his or her intended career in cyber security as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in his/her rural community.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Rural Technology Fund website. In addition to the completed application, the student must respond to three essay questions posed within the application. There is no length requirement. If necessary, additional pages may be submitted with this document. All applications must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
