Additional Information: The Sachs Foundation was incorporated as a Colorado, non-profit corporation in 1931 and since that time has helped nearly 7,000 black Colorado residents obtain a college education. The Sachs Foundation endeavors to award grants equally to male and female applicants as reasonably determined in conjunction with the variances in cumulative high school grade point averages and financial need. They screen all applicants for their weighted high school cumulative grade point averages. The grade point average cut-off varies depending upon the number and mix of applications, the number of vacancies, and the funds available for grants. Selection is also strongly based on demonstrated financial need, as established in the submitted financial statement, which is part of the application form. If selected, the applicant will be required to come to Colorado Springs for a personal interview, usually in April.

Award Amount: The amount of each award varies. In previous years, the average amount was $5,000 annually. Awards are renewable for four years if the recipient maintains a grade point average of 2.5 or higher per term; has no grades of failure, incomplete, or unsatisfactory; and enrolls full time (12 credit hours or more) every semester.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.
