Number of Awards & Eligibility: Four awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student during the following academic year.
  3. Must be a resident of Baltimore City, Prince George's County, MD or Washington, D.C. Preference will given to residents of Baltimore City and Washington, D.C.
  4. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  5. Must be a high school senior to apply for this undergraduate award.
  6. Must have a grade point average of 2.8 or higher.
  7. Must have a gross family income of less than $90,000.

Description: This award is for high school seniors who are residents of Maryland or Washington, D.C. The student must attend an accredited college or university full-time in the fall and must demonstrate financial need.

Additional Information: The mission of providing access to college education is the cornerstone of CSB's philosophy. At CSB, students can find the money they need for college and keep their debt to a minimum. The applicant must demonstrate financial need. Scholarship recipients are selected based on financial need, teamwork/community service, and academic achievement.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,500.

Applications are available on the Central Scholarship Bureau (CSB) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following materials: a copy of his/her current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Student Aid Report (SAR) (or the applicant's most recent tax return if his/her FAFSA or SAR is not available); a completed 'Budget Form,' including the student's tuition costs and all known income sources; and an essay addressing the topic listed on the application. The SAR is sent to students once the FAFSA has been processed. Students must file the FAFSA by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. In addition to completing the scholarship application, including all the needed information for the loan application, the applicant must call the CSB office to schedule an interview. Completed online applications must be submitted by the deadline date.
