Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Last year, 20 scholarships were awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
  3. Must be a student who has attended at least four of the six secondary grade school years at a southern Santa Barbara County school and be a senior graduating from a southern Santa Barbara County high school to apply for this undergraduate award.
  4. Must demonstrate the highest levels of academic achievement.
  5. Must be a legal resident of Goleta, Santa Barbara, or Carpinteria, California.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. graduating high school seniors who are legal residents of Goleta, Santa Barbara, or Carpinteria, California and will graduate from a southern Santa Barbara County high school. Students must demonstrate a very high level of academic achievement.

Additional Information: For more than forty years, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara has helped local students pay for their higher education, be it a vocational, community college, or four year college or graduate school. Through the granting of scholarships, the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara inspires, encourages, and supports Santa Barbara County students in their pursuit of college, graduate, and vocational education. South Coast Area High School Senior Honors Scholarships are for students who demonstrate a very high level of academic achievement. Financial need is not required and the competition is extremely rigorous. Please note: After applications are reviewed, a select number of students will be interviewed. The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara will contact applicants regarding interview scheduling. Award recipients will be selected from the interview group. Recipients selected for the South Coast Area High School Senior Honors Scholarship are not eligible to apply for the Art Scholarship Program.

Award Amount: Award amount varies annually according to the amount of funds available to the provider. This award is non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara website. In addition to the completed digital application, the student must submit an official high school transcript, official documentation of SAT scores, a personal statement essay as described on the application, and a letter of recommendation from an individual listed on the application. Students must also submit the Signature & Certification page available from the Foundation website. The application and all supporting materials must be submitted online by the deadline date.
