Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of scholarships varies based on the number of qualified undergraduate students enrolled each year. Last year, 3,255 need-based scholarships were provided to Stanford University undergraduates.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend Stanford University in Stanford, California.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior at the time of application.

Additional Information: While admissions to Stanford are merit-based and highly competitive, financial aid applications are solely need-based and non-competitive. All students from families earning less than $65,000 will receive scholarships to fund tuition, room, and board. Students from families making up to $125,000 per year will have 100% of their tuition provided through Stanford's generous financial aid programs. Students who come from families earning more than that amount may also be eligible for slightly reduced financial aid packages.

Award Amount: Last year, the average need-based scholarship for Stanford undergraduate students was $50,313. Awards are renewable for up to four full years of undergraduate study. Students seeking award renewal must maintain satisfactory academic progress and update their financial information annually.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,313.

All undergraduate students who are accepted to Stanford University and complete the financial aid application will be eligible for need-based financial aid. To apply for admissions, students must complete either the Common Application or Coalition Application, as well as all supplemental Stanford University sections, no later than the deadline. Early Action applications must be received no later than November 1, and Regular Decision applications must be received by January 2.
