Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must attend John Jay High School in Wappingers Falls, New York.
  4. Must plan to major in art.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: This scholarship was established by the family of Steven Parascandola in 2008 to honor his character, his talent, and his love of art. An award is provided annually for art students who are graduating from John Jay High School and planning to pursue an art-related major at college.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of Dutchess County website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one art-related and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a digital copy of the student's portfolio of original work; a list of all shows and art events the student has participated in; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
