In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must plan to enroll as a full-time student.
  3. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  4. Must present evidence of a grade point average of 2.5 or higher from a previous academic program.
  5. Must plan to complete an associate's degree program at Roane State Community College or Pellissippi State Technical Community College in Tennessee.
  6. Must be a resident of Anderson County, Tennessee.
  7. Must either be a graduate of Anderson County High School, Clinton Senior High School, or Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee OR have either a high school diploma or a GED and be a returning adult student or a non-traditional student.
  8. Must be a high school senior or a returning adult/non-traditional student with a high school diploma or GED.

Description: This award is for high school seniors and graduates of Anderson County High School, Clinton Senior High School, or Oak Ridge High School in Tennessee. Returning adult students and non-traditional students are also eligible to apply. Students must plan to attend Roane State Technical Community College or Pellissippi State Technical Community College.

Additional Information: Pat and David Coffey established the Steven L. Coffey Memorial Scholarship Fund in honor of their son, to assist students who possess the potential for excellence but may require some additional support in achieving their educational goals. Steven L. Coffey was a talented and successful business and family man who believed in the power of opportunity and education. This scholarship fund is intended to benefit Anderson County residents, both recent high school graduates and adult residents, who wish to pursue a college education at the community college level. Grants are awarded on the basis of a demonstrated financial need, the desire to pursue a postsecondary education and the potential for academic excellence. East Tennessee Foundation (ETF) does not discriminate on the grounds of disability, age, race, color, religion, sex, ethnic origin, or any other classification protected by federal and /or Tennessee state constitutional and/or statutory law.

Award Amount: $1,500 - $2,500 annually, renewable for up to three additional years. Students who complete one year of college work and receive a 2.5 grade point average or higher are eligible for financial assistance throughout the duration of their undergraduate education as long as the program's minimum eligibility requirements are continually met.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available on the East Tennessee Foundation website. Prior to starting the application, students must obtain a copy of the East Tennessee Foundation scholarship guide and application instructions. The guide can be obtained online from the East Tennessee Foundation website. Students must review this guide in order to determine if additional supplementary materials may be required in order to complete the application. Applications must be completed online no later than the deadline date.
