Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. All students applying for admissions will be considered for a scholarship based on merit.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must plan to enroll full time.
  3. Must plan to attend St. Thomas University in Florida.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older student who is planning to enroll as a freshman.
  5. Must plan to attend a college or university in the state of Florida.

Description: High school seniors or older international students who are planning to enroll full time as freshmen at St. Thomas University in Florida are eligible to apply for this award. All international students admitted to St. Thomas University are considered for a scholarship.

Additional Information: All award amounts are awarded and determined by the admissions committee. Admitted applicants for the fall must submit a non-refundable tuition deposit of $100 by May 15 (or within two weeks of acceptance, after May 1) to reserve their seat in the entering class. Admitted applicants for the spring must submit a non-refundable deposit of $100 by the deadline stated on their acceptance letter. All deposits are non-refundable and will be applied to the first semester's tuition charges. Scholarships are awarded according to year in school and SAT/ACT score. Students who have received an International Baccalaureate (IB) are eliglible for an additional $1000.

Award Amount: Up to $11,000 per year  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $44,000.

Students are considered for this award by applying for admission to St. Thomas University (STU). No separate scholarship application is required. International admissions information is available online at the provided link. In addition to the completed admissions application, each student must submit the following: a non-refundable $40 application fee; official secondary/high school transcripts; a completed 'Statement of Financial Sponsorship Form' (Form A); a completed 'Statement of Finances Form' (Form B); an indication of his/her visa type; TOEFL results if his/her native language is not English; a letter of recommendation; and a personal essay based on one of the topics listed on the application. All necessary forms are available on the STU website. Please note: Although SAT and ACT scores are not required of international students, it is recommended that students take these tests if possible, as the scores will assist the admissions committee in the evaluation process. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but there are two priority deadlines per year. The priority deadline for the fall semester is May 1, and the priority deadline for the spring semester is Nov. 1. Applications received after the priority deadline will still be considered for admission according to the number of spaces available for the upcoming semester.
