Description: The Sutliff & Stout Annual Scholarship Contest is available for graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate or graduate students who submit an essay on the topic of distracted driving.

Application requirements for the Sutliff & Stout Annual First Step Scholarship are:

Additional Information: The Sutliff & Stout “First Step” to Distraction-Free Driving Scholarship is provided annually to help increase awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, and the disproportionate risks faced by younger drivers. Scholarship essay submissions will be reviewed for evidence of introspection and practical steps that can be taken to reduce the common distractions that pose the greatest danger. One winner will be selected and notified no later than August 15.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Additional information and application instructions about the Sutliff & Stout Annual Scholarship Contest are available online at the provider website and may be accessed with the provided links. To be considered for this award, students must write an original essay of at least 500 words in length. Essays must acknowledge the applicant's most common distractions while driving, and what concrete steps he or she will take to reduce and ultimately eliminate these distractions. In addition to the essay, students must also upload a recent resume and a transcript or other proof of enrollment in an accredited college or university. All supporting documents must be uploaded as attachments to the online application and submission form. All applications and supporting documents must be received no later than the deadline date.
