Number of Awards & Eligibility: Three awards offered annually. The SVC Foundation and its scholarship committee may vary the number, amounts and types of awards made based on factors such as funds available and the number and quality of applications received.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be enrolled in a course of study important to vacuum coating technology at an accredited educational institution and plan for a career in vacuum coating technology.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this undergraduate and graduate award.

Description: This scholarship is available for international and U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in a course of study important to vacuum coating technology at an accredited educational institution and plan for a career in vacuum coating technology.

Additional Information: The SVC Scholarship Fund is intended to further the education of people entering or already participating in a course of study important to vacuum coating technology at an accredited institution. Anyone attending an accredited technical, vocational, two-year, undergraduate or graduate school may apply, including students and practitioners already working in the vacuum coating technology field. Scholarships provide a financial award to be used toward tuition, books and fees at an accredited educational institution. The SVC Foundation annually appoints a scholarship selection committee to review scholarship applicant materials. The selection committee reviews all materials submitted and considers and weighs a variety of factors such as: relevance of applicant's field of study to vacuum coating technology and the goals of the Society of Vacuum Coaters and its charitable and educational foundation; the applicant's academic achievement, including grades, courses selected, interdisciplinary skills and interests; the applicant's personal qualities including motivation, social values, maturity, and goals; and financial need.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable; however, previous winners are eligible to re-apply.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.
