Number of Awards & Eligibility: 20 awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a direct blood descendant of a Taiwanese citizen.
  4. Must be a high school senior or first-year college student who plans to attend a university or college as a first- or second-year student in the United States. Please note: High school seniors, if selected, must submit a college acceptance letter for verification.
  5. Must have a cumulative unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  6. Must reside in the United States.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors and first-year college students who are direct descendants of a Taiwanese citizen. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and must have a household income at or below the federal/state/county low income level.

Additional Information: The Taiwanese American Scholarship Fund is focused on helping economically-challenged Taiwanese American youth fulfill their dreams of obtaining higher education. All majors may apply. All applicants must have a household income at or below the federal/state/county low income level. Detailed information on the applicable income levels is available online. Awardees will be notified no later than June 30.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, non-renewable. Previous award recipients are eligible to apply as long as they meet the eligibility requirements.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Applications are available online on the Taiwanese American Scholarship Fund (TASF) website. Please note: The application must be completed online, and it must be completed in one session as information cannot be saved. A sample application is available on the TASF website for the student to review prior to submitting his/her application. In addition to a completed online application, each student must submit the following supporting documents: his/her most recent official high school or college transcript, as appropriate (may be uploaded, scanned/emailed, faxed, or mailed); two essays, one of 650 words or less and one of 500 words or less, addressing the topics listed on the application; and three reference contacts, preferably persons who are involved in the Taiwanese American community. All application materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. on the deadline date.
