Number of Awards & Eligibility: Six awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for legal U.S. residents. Please note: This scholarship is only available to United States citizens or students possessing appropriate visa status in order to study in the United States.
  2. Must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited U.S. college or university for the upcoming semester.
  3. Must have a declared major of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related life science field.
  4. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Graduate students must have an eligible undergraduate grade point average as well as maintenance of an eligible grade point average during graduate school. Undergraduate students must have an eligible grade point average based on college work. Freshman students must have an eligible grade point average based on high school work.
  5. Must be 16 years of age or older at time of application.

Additional Information: Each eligible application will be reviewed and evaluated by a scholarship committee selected by Thermo Fisher Scientific (TSF) to select scholarship recipients by August 8. Scholarship recipients will be selected on the basis of those applicants which the committee determines best fit one or more of TFS's values of integrity, intensity, innovation, or involvement, as demonstrated by the application. Thermo Fisher Scientific, its subsidiaries, affiliates, distributors, sales representatives, and each of their respective officers, directors and employees, as well as the immediate family members and/or those persons living in the same households of the foregoing, are not eligible to apply or win a scholarship.

Award Amount: There will be two awards of $10,000 and four awards of $5,000 given in each application period. All awards are non-renewable. Scholarships will be paid directly to the college or university.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $6,667.

Applications must be completed online, and all documents should be uploaded into the online application. Applications cannot be saved and must be completed in one sitting. The Scholarship Committee is looking for well-rounded students with a passion for science, and any positive remarks about the applicant's passions, personality, commitments, and work ethic will benefit his/her application. Students are encouraged to include additional information, such as a C.V. or resume that outlines their complete education background, work experience, activities and volunteer work. If the applicant has any reference letters, posters/presentations, and/or publications, those should be included as well. Transcripts are not required with the application, but if the applicant would like to submit an unofficial transcript, he/she is welcome to do so. Applications must be received by 11:59:59 p.m. CT on May 2nd.
