Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually based on the number of eligible applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be an incoming first-time-in-college freshman.
  4. Must plan to attend the University of North Florida.
  5. Must be a resident of Duval County (Fla.).
  6. Must reside in HUD/HabiJax or other publicly assisted housing.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This scholarship is available for incoming freshmen who are residents of Duval County (Fla.) and plan to attend the University of North Florida. Students must reside in publicly assisted housing and demonstrate financial need.

Application requirements for the UNF Fidelity Hicks Scholars Endowment are:

  • Application form
  • FAFSA
  • Resume
  • Recommendation letter
  • Interview (if requested)
  • Personal statement
Additional Information: Students must demonstrate financial need. Financial need is determined by a student's campus cost of attendance minus the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) as calculated from the FAFSA, and other aid received. Students may be required to schedule a scholarship interview. Such students will be provided with the date and time for the interview. Current UNF students and transfer students are not eligible to apply.

Award Amount: $2,500 annually, renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.
