In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  2. This award is for U.S. students.
  3. Must be an incoming first-year college student.
  4. Must be named a National Hispanic Scholar by the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
  5. Must plan to attend the University of Iowa.

Description: This award is available to U.S students who are recognized as National Hispanic Scholars and are planning to attend the University of Iowa. Students must designate the University of Iowa as their first choice college.

Application requirements for the University of Iowa Provost’s Scholarship for National Hispanic Scholars are:

  • Official Transcript
  • Official SAT/ACT scores
Additional Information: The University of Iowa offers this award to incoming first-year students who are recognized as National Hispanic Scholars. Additional information about the National Hispanic Scholars Program can be found at http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about/scholarships.html.

Award Amount: $3,000 annually, renewable up to three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $12,000.

Students must apply for admission to University of Iowa (UI) to be considered for this award. An additional scholarship application is not required. Admissions information is available online on the UI website at admissions.uiowa.edu/apply/first-year-student-application-process . In addition to the online application, the student must also pay the non-refundable $40 application fee and have ACT and/or SAT scores sent to UI directly from the testing agency. The admissions deadline to be considered for scholarships is March 1.
