Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies based on the number of qualified applicants.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must have applied for admission to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
  3. Must have an ACT composite score of 23 or higher OR an SAT composite score of 1050 or higher (verbal/critical reading and math only). Students also must have an English ACT score of 18 or higher OR a verbal/critical reading SAT score of 450 or higher; and they must have a math ACT score of 19 or higher OR a math SAT score of 460 or higher. Please note: ACT and SAT scores from tests taken after the application deadline date will not be considered in the evaluation process.
  4. Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a non-weighted 4.0 scale.
  5. Must be an entering college freshman.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  7. Must be a resident of Louisiana.

Description: This award is for U.S. students who enroll at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as entering freshmen. Student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and must have an ACT composite score of 23 or higher or an SAT composite score of 1050 or higher.

Application requirements for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Incoming Freshman Scholarships Program are:

Additional Information: The following scholarships are included in this program: the Outstanding Student Scholarship; the Academic Scholarship; the Centennial Scholarship; the Academic Excellence Scholarship; the Distinguished Freshman Scholarship; and the Distinguished Freshman Housing Scholarship. The Outstanding Student Scholarship is awarded to students who have an ACT composite score of 28 or higher (or an SAT score of 1400 or higher). The Academic Scholarship is awarded to students who have an ACT composite score of 28 or higher (or an SAT score of 1250 or higher). Students that have earned an ACT of 27 or lower and a 3.0 or higher grade point average will have their applications reviewed and the ULL Scholarships Office will award on the basis of a ranking system determined by the Academic Scholarship Committee and the availability of funds. Please note: Some early scholarship offers will be made to students who have an ACT score of 28 or higher, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, and have been admitted to ULL by Nov. 15.

Award Amount: Awards range from a total value of $1,000 to a total value of $50,000. Certain scholarships include funding for housing. The Outstanding Student Scholarship also includes a campus job and use of a laptop computer. Certain scholarships are awarded for one academic year while others are awarded for four academic years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $50,000.

Scholarship information is available online on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) website by clicking on the "In-State Students" link, then clicking on the "Incoming Freshmen" link. Students must complete a scholarship application (available on the ULL website) to be considered for this program. One section of the application must be completed and signed by his/her guidance counselor or principal. In addition to the scholarship application, the student must submit his/her six- or seven-semester high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores. The test scores may also be submitted to the ULL Admissions Department. Please note: Students should apply for admission to ULL prior to submitting the scholarshp application. Admissions information for ULL is available online at www.louisiana.edu/admissions/first-time-freshmen. Students are not required to have been admitted to ULL to submit the scholarship application; however, scholarship offers will not be made until the student is provisionally admitted to ULL. The scholarship application must be mailed to the address provided by the deadline date.
