In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for low-income students who are incoming freshman at University of Southern California (USC). Applicants who reside in the local community and first-generation college students are given primary consideration in the selection process.

Additional Information: The purpose of the Norman Topping Student Aid Fund (NTSAF) is to assist low-income college students who demonstrate community awareness in their pursuit of higher education at the University of Southern California.

Award Amount: While the award amount varies, each selected scholar receives about $10,000. To retain eligibility, each selected scholar must: maintain an undegraduate grade point average of 2.5 or higher (3.0 or higher for graduate students); complete a minimum of 20 approved hours of community service each semester; and attend all required retreats and events.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $10,000.

Applications are available online at the Norman Topping Student Aid Fund website. In addition to the completed application form, the following items must be submitted: an autobiography, not exceeding three typewritten pages, which should include descriptions and explanations of the applicant's experiences in relation to the program's selection criteria; and two letters of recommendation from professionals who are not related to the applicant that address his/her financial need, first-generation status, community awareness, volunteer efforts, and any extraordinary circumstances. Please note: The autobiography is an extremely important part of the application process; the student is strongly encouraged to read the application instructions on the fund website for further details. The completed application and all supporting documents must be submitted by 11:59 pm PST on the deadline date.
