Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. Last year, three scholarships were given.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international and U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at time of application.
  3. Must interested in pursuing a field of study that relates to geospatial intelligence.

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. and international high school seniors who have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a field of study related to geospatial intelligence.

Application requirements for the USGIF Scholarship Program for High School Seniors are:

  • Application form

  • Essay
  • Transcript
Additional Information: In evaluating scholarship applications, USGIF will first look at the nominee's overall qualifications as demonstrated through academic course work and extracurricular activities. USGIF evaluates nominations on a peer-to-peer basis so that graduating high school seniors will only be judged relative to other graduating high school seniors.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications are available online on the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) website. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: an essay of three to five double-spaced pages addressing the topics listed on the application; a copy of his/her high school transcripts (unofficial accepted); and two letters of recommendation, at least one of which should be from an appropriate high school teacher or administrator. An applicant who is under the age of 18 on the date of his/her submission must also include a letter of support/permission from his/her parent or legal guardian. The parent letter does not count as one of the letters of recommendation. All application materials must be submitted online no later than the deadline date.
