Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of recipients for this program varies according to the number of college students meeting the eligibility requirements in any given year. Last year, one scholarship was awarded.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must be a resident of the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
  4. Must be graduating from a high school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
  5. Must be a high school senior at time of application who is eligible for and committed to enter an accredited four-year college the immediate semester following the announcement of the winner(s).

Description: This scholarship is available for U.S. high school seniors who live and attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Additional Information: Candidates will not be selected on the basis of socio-economic background, grade point average, or number and choice of extracurricular activities. The candidate, however, must be eligible for and committed to entering college the immediate semester following the announcement of the winner(s). The committee will notify the candidates with the most satisfactory presentation of responses, and schedule them for personal interviews, which will be held at a convenient time and location. As part of the personal interview, the candidate may be requested to write an additional essay.

Award Amount: Up to $2,000 annually, renewable for three additional years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.

Applications and additional information are available on The Communities Foundation of Texas website. To apply for this award, students must first register an account with The Communities Foundation of Texas. Upon registration, students will be prompted to supply personal information for the general application. In addition to the online general application, the student must submit the following: evidence of eligibility for admission to an accredited four-year college or university (transcript, record, or endorsement letter by school official on school stationery will suffice); and an essay of a suggested length of 500 to 1,000 words on one of the topics listed on the application. All applications, essay responses, and electronic supporting documents must be submitted online prior to the deadline.
