Description: The Young Innovators to Watch contest is open to U.S. students between the ages of 13 - 19 who submit a project or innovation that shows technical or scientific creativity. Applicants may work individually or in small teams.

Application requirements for the Young Innovators to Watch are:

  • Application form
  • A video
  • Photo or website of the functioning project
Additional Information: Young Innovators to Watch is an initiative of Living in Digital Times in cooperation with partners. The award provides recognition to individuals or small teams (between the ages of 13 and 19) for developing projects that demonstrate exceptional creativity and innovation in technical or scientific contexts. Award winners may receive in-kind prizes, media promotion, and other benefits through the award. Winners will be notified by the date specified on the web site and will be invited to attend an awards ceremony as specified on the provider web site. A combination of educators, software developers, VCs and incubator directors, college professors, foundation leaders and developers of hardware and software serve as judges. Applications are scored based on: creativity; scalability; user interface; and social good.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications and information about this contest are available online and may be accessed at the provided link. Students may enter this contest individually or in small teams. All members of the team must be between the eligible ages and must submit the appropriate verifications and/or parental consent forms. Each submission must demonstrate a picture, video, or website for a functioning project that demonstrates problem solving, creativity, and innovation in a technical or scientific context. Teams may also choose to submit the nomination form, although it is not required. All submisisons must be received online no later than the deadline date.
