Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must have a parent who has been or is afflicted with cancer OR must be battling cancer himself/herself.
  4. Must be graduating from a high school in either Ocean or Monmouth County, New Jersey.
  5. Must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or vocational school.
  6. Must be a high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. high school seniors who are graduating from a high school in Ocean or Monmouth Counties in New Jersey are eligible for this award. Students must have a parent who has been or is afflicted with cancer OR must be battling cancer.

Additional Information: A variety of factors will be considered as part of the evaluation process, including financial need, academic excellence, community service, extracurricular activities, leadership and work experience.

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 per year for up to four years ($20,000 total).  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $20,000.

Applications are available online from the Princeton Area Community Foundation (PACF) website. In addition to the completed application with two required signatures, each student must submit the following: three two-paragraph essays addressing three of the five questions listed online (a response to question one is mandatory); two letters of recommendation; a high school transcript; a copy of his/her financial aid award letter; a copy of his/her acceptance letter from a college or vocational school; and a letter of support and validation from a treating physician. Each of the three essays must be written on its own separate page, with the applicant's name on each page. The student must also file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the deadline date. The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. The student is required to submit the SAR (Student Aid Report) which is generated upon completion and submission of the FAFSA.
