Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately three regional ESSPY recipients are selected.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an Eagle Scout, his parents, or any registered BSA volunteer (with the Eagle Scout’s permission).
  2. Must complete a significant service project.

Description: The Glenn and Melinda Adams Service Project of the Year Award is available for an Eagle Scout, his parents, or any registered BSA volunteer (with the Eagle Scout’s permission).

Application requirements for the Glenn and Melinda Adams Service Project of the Year Award are:

  • Nomination.
Additional Information: The selection of recipients begins at the local level. It is conducted through the council NESA committee (or a NESA awards sub-committee). The council NESA committee selects a recipient for their respective council from the list of submitted nominations. Then forwards a worthy candidate to the National Eagle Scout Association for regional consideration. The National Eagle Scout Association established the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams national Eagle Scout service project of the year award (ESSPY). The award recognizes valuable and exceptional service by an Eagle Scout candidate to a religious institution, a school, community or other entity through completion of an Eagle Scout project. Past projects have helped Veterans and underprivileged children.

Award Amount: The grant value is up to $2,500.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,500.

Nominations must be made by January 21 of each year. The council must email a scanned copy of the winning Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook – including attachments – to the National Eagle Scout Association at [email protected] by February 21 of each year.
