Number of Awards & Eligibility: At least forty scholarships are awared each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an Eagle Scout.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior or an undergraduate college student.

Description: Hall/McElwain Scholarships provides awards of $5,000 each based on school and Scouting participation as well as community service. To be eligible, an applicant must be an Eagle Scout and a graduating high school senior or an undergraduate college student. The scholarships are not available to students attending any of the U.S. military academies.

Application requirements for the Hall/McElwain Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
Additional Information: The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) helps Eagle Scouts stay in touch with Scouting. NESA is also an outlet for alumni to network and collaborate. They also help Eagle Scouts with their educational pursuits. Whether this be at a four-year university, vocational trade school or field study opportunities. The Hall/McElwain Scholarship is merit-based. It is awarded based on school and Scouting participation as well as community service. At least 40 scholarship recipients each year receive $5,000 Hall/McElwain Scholarships. There are two other merit scholarships available. These include three Robert and Rebecca Palmer Scholarships of $2,500 and Two (2) Bailey Scholarships. One Bailey Award is for $4,000, the other is a $2,000 scholarship.

Award Amount: Award amounts varies from 40 of $5,000, three of $2,500, one of $4,000 and one of $2,000 each year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

To apply, students must create a NESA account, then sign in and complete the NESA Scholarship Application. One of the documents you must provide is a letter of recommendation. It is the same application for the ALL scholarship opportunities (Academic, Merit, NESA World Explorer) per year.
