In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be an Eagle Scout.
  2. Must be a graduating high school senior or an undergraduate college student.

Description: Hall/McElwain Scholarships provides awards of up to $5,000 each based on school and Scouting participation as well as community service. To be eligible, an applicant must be an Eagle Scout and a graduating high school senior or an undergraduate college student. Students attending any of the U.S. military academies are not eligible.

Application requirements for the Hall/McElwain Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
Additional Information: The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) helps Eagle Scouts stay in touch with Scouting. NESA is also an outlet for alumni to network and collaborate. They also help Eagle Scouts with their educational pursuits. Whether this be at a four-year university, vocational trade school or field study opportunities. The Hall/McElwain Scholarship is merit-based. It is awarded based on school and Scouting participation as well as community service. At least 40 scholarship recipients each year receive $5,000 Hall/McElwain Scholarships. There are two other merit scholarships available. These include three Robert and Rebecca Palmer Scholarships of $2,500 and Two (2) Bailey Scholarships. One Bailey Award is for $4,000, the other is a $2,000 scholarship.

Award Amount: Award amounts varies: 1st Place – $5,000 2nd Place – $4,000 3rd Place – $3,000 Plus four additional $2,000 scholarships  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,060,000.
