Number of Awards & Eligibility: Ten awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be attending college for the first time in the upcoming fall term.
  4. Must plan to attend the University of Oregon.
  5. Must be a resident of Oregon.
  6. Must graduate from an Oregon high school.
  7. Must have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.85 or higher on a 4.0 scale (weighted or unweighted).
  8. Must have an SAT score of 1300 or higher (critical reading and math) OR an ACT composite score of 28 or higher.
  9. Must exemplify leadership, perseverance, scholarship, service, and innovation.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. high school seniors plannign to attend the University of Oregon. Students must have a grade point average of 3.85 or higher and exemplify leadership, perseverance, service, and innovation. Funds can also be used for studying abroad.

Application requirements for the University of Oregon Stamps Leadership Scholarship are:

Additional Information: Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria: academic preparation as demonstrated by transcripts; test scores; activities and talents; demonstrated leadership, innovation, and perseverance; volunteer service; work experience; and the application essays. Selection to receive the Stamps Leadership Scholarship is highly competitive. The University of Oregon will interview up to 15 semifinalists at the UO campus in January. Finalists will then be interviewed by the Stamps Family Charitable Foundation who will make the final selection of five recipients. Recipients of Stamps Leadership Scholarships will be notified by March 15. Recipients are automatically granted admission to UO's Robert D. Clark Honors College. Please note: Students who apply for the Stamps Leadership Scholarship will automatically be considered for the Presidential Scholarship also.

Award Amount: Oregon resident Stamps Scholars receive UO resident tuition, fees, room, and board for four years of undergraduate study. Out-of-state recipients receive non-resident tuition and fees. All recipients benefit from up to $12,000 in enrichment funds to be used over four years to help pursue study abroad, unpaid internships, or other experiences. The total award provides approximately $125,000 over four years.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $120,000.

Scholarship information and applications are available online on the University of Oregon (UO) website by clicking on the "Incoming Freshmen" link. To apply for this scholarship, the student must apply for admission to UO by Nov. 1. Admissions information is available online at admissions.uoregon.edu/freshmen. The student must also submit the online scholarship application by Nov. 15. A valid email address is required to complete the application. The application will ask the student to detail his/her activities, talents, volunteer service, and work experience, and to answer four short-answer essay questions. Please note: All admission documents must be submitted to UO by Dec. 1. Required admission documents include the following: official high school transcripts; ACT and/or SAT scores (sent directly from the testing service or included on transcripts); an application essay of 500 words or less sharing information that is not included elsewhere in his/her application; and an explanation of personal circumstances that affected academic performance (optional).
