Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  3. Must be a member of Women in Aviation, International (WAI) by Nov. 1, and that membership must remain current through March. Please note: Both men and women are eligible to join WAI.
  4. Must be a female.
  5. Must be a commercial pilot.
  6. Must be pursuing a professional pilot career.

Description: This scholarship is open to U.S. female commercial pilots who are pursuing a professional pilot career. Applicants must be members of Women in Aviation, International as of Nov. 1.

Additional Information: Candidates will be evaluated on academic standing, personal accomplishments, teamwork, leadership skills, and airmanship. The scholarship recipient will be guaranteed a first officer interview upon attainment of the company's hiring requirements. All scholarships, unless otherwise noted, will be awarded at the Annual International Women in Aviation Conference. Attendance at the conference is not required to receive a scholarship, but it is encouraged. Please note: Students may only receive one scholarship per year.

Award Amount: $5,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.

Applications are available on the Women in Aviation, International (WAI) website. A complete application packet must include three stapled sets of the following (one original and two copies): a completed application form; two recommendation letters of one page each; a 500-word typed, descriptive essay; a professional resume; and copies of all aviation licenses and medical certificates, and the last three pages of the applicant's pilot logbook, if applicable. A separate application packet must be submitted for each scholarship for which the student wishes to apply. Students may apply for a maximum of two scholarships per year. Application packets must be sent to the address provided and must be postmarked by the deadline date.
