Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend John Jay High School in Hopewell Junction, New York.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must demonstrate a commitment to community service.
  5. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.

Additional Information: The purpose of the Christopher M. C. Ulanmo Memorial Scholarship fund is to honor his life by making a scholarship available to high school seniors from John Jay High school who plan to enter college. Chris was a kind happy fun loving giving and intelligent person who had a positive influence on everyone he knew. He was generous loved family community and had many friends. Chris was a teenager with a promising future and the ability to become anything. He aspired to become a doctor because he believed in service to others. However this promising future will not be able to be realized. The scholarship has been established to help others who exemplify generosity intelligence goodwill and a love for life.

Award Amount: $500 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $500.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
