Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must attend Millbrook High School, Our Lady of Lourdes High School or Poughkeepsie High School.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
  3. This award is for U.S. students.
  4. Must demonstrate significant financial need or other barriers to higher education.
  5. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  6. Must plan to enroll full time in an accredited college or university.
  7. Must demonstrate a commitment to community service.

Additional Information: stablished by the Dyson Foundation in honor of its' friend and board member Michael P. Murphy, this scholarship provides an annual scholarship award to a graduating senior from Millbrook High School, Our Lady of Lourdes High School or Poughkeepsie High School who has demonstrated leadership in and a passion for giving back to their community. Selection for this award is based primarily on academic merit, financial need, and demonstration of leadership in community and service activities.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.

Applications are available online from the Community Foundation of the Hudson Valley website at the address provided. In addition to the completed application, each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation (one academic and one personal); a copy of his/her most recent transcript; a copy of the student's Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information; and an essay of approximately 500 words responding to the prompt listed on the application. The Student Aid Report (SAR) is obtained by filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov, at high school guidance offices, and at college financial aid offices. Applications must be completed online by the deadline date.
