Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  4. Must be a full-time or part-time student
  5. Must be accepted or enrolled in a two- or four-year undergraduate or graduate degree program.
  6. Must be an Alaskan Native.
  7. Must be an Alaska Native original enrollee, or descendant of an Alaska Native original enrollee, of CIRI (Cook Inlet Region, Inc.).

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is for U.S. undergraduate or graduate students. Students must enroll full time and have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

Application requirements for the CIRI General Semester Scholarship are:

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Photo (headshot)
Additional Information: General Semester Scholarships are merit scholarships for applicants who demonstrate academic promise. Each recipient may only recieve one award from the CIRI Foundation at a time. Conditions of the scholarship are recipients must complete full-time enrollment with a 2.5 cumulative grade point average or better. Award recipients are expected to complete the courses for which they received their award.

Award Amount: Full-time students: eligible to receive 1 award up to $6000* per academic year (August-July)Part-time students: eligible to receive 1 award up to $5500* per academic year (August-July)  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $11,500.

This award has two deadlines per year: June 1 and Dec. 1. Applications and guidelines are available online from the Cook Inlet Region Inc. (CIRI) Foundation website. In addition to the completed application, each student must submit proof of eligibility (first-time applicants only); one letter of reference from current or former teachers, employers or others who know of his/her past experience and potential to succeed in his/her chosen career; a copy of his/her official transcripts or certificate of completion; a statement of purpose (as described on page two of the application); a letter of acceptance; proof of enrollment; and a photograph of himself/herself (optional). Applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline in order to receive consideration.
