Number of Awards & Eligibility: All eligible students are considered for this award.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be accepted to Abilene Christian University.
  2. Must be an incoming first year freshmen.
  3. Must be a U.S citizen or permenant resident.
  4. Must be named a National Merit Commended student and list Abilene Christian University as a first choice college with the National Merit Corporation.
  5. This award is for U.S students.

Description: This award is for U.S students who are named National Merit Semi-finalist/Commended and list ACU as their first choice school. The student must plan to attend ACU as a freshmen.

Application requirements for the Abilene Christian University National Merit Commended Scholarship   are:

  • Essay
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • SAT/ACT score
  • Certificate
Additional Information: All National Merit Finalists and Semi-Finalists are guaranteed full-tuition, when coordinated with federal, state and institutional grants, to attend ACU. Additionally, these students are provided with a $1,500 stipend, per year, that can be used to help cover the costs of room, board and/or books. National Merit Commended Scholars are awarded an additional $2,000 scholarship, per year, that stacks with their merit-based award. No application is required. Provide a copy of your National Merit Certificate to your Admissions Counselor to claim this award.

Award Amount: Full tuition is approximately $37,800 and an additional $2,000.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $119,400.

Applications for admissions must be submitted by the regular deadline date of Feb. 1. Applications received after Feb. 1 will be considered on a space-available basis. For scholarship consideration, the National Merit Certificate must be submitted to the admissions office by March 1.
